The Qur'an, European Stories

Date
From 17/05 to 31/08/2025

Present in Europe since the 8th century, the Qur'an has been read, interpreted, and adapted by Christians, Jews, atheists, freethinkers, and Muslims. What role has this foundational text played in the shaping of European identity? Through a thematic and chronological journey, this major exhibition explores the richness and complexity of the ties between European history and the Qur'an.

On view for free from May 17 to August 31, the exhibition brings together manuscripts, artworks, and rare books from the collections of renowned institutions such as the Bibliothèque nationale de France, the Musée Dobrée, the Musée d’arts de Nantes, and the Bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève.
A result of the European research program EuQu – The European Qur’an, this exhibition is designed for a wide audience and is accompanied by a diverse program of events: guided tours, lectures, concerts, performances, film screenings, and calligraphy workshops—all inviting us to reflect together on what connects us.

The opening will take place on May 16 at 6:00 PM by invitation.
