Independence and responsibility
The Institut d'études avancées de Nantes was granted the status of Fondation reconnue d'utilité publique by decree on April 4, 2008 (J.O. April 6, 2008).
This legal status guarantees the Institute's scientific independence and durability. The Foundation is managed by a Board of Directors chaired by the President of Nantes Métropole and Mayor of Nantes, Mrs Johanna Rolland.
The Institut d'études avancées de Nantes is recognized by both the Ministry of Research and the Ministry of the Interior. A Government Commissioner attends meetings of the Board of Directors in an advisory capacity. Its accounts are audited by a chartered accountant and certified by a statutory auditor. The annual report, projected budget and financial statements are sent to the Préfet de Loire Atlantique and to the Ministries of Research and the Interior.
