Juliette Morice will present her book Renouncing Travel: A Philosophical Inquiry at an event organized by the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme. The event will be followed by a book signing with the author.
Through her book, Juliette Morice explores the possibility of continuing to travel as we once did. She revisits philosophical debates on the ambiguous and controversial nature of travel, raised long before the advent of airplanes or the Internet. Renouncing Travel invites reflection on the evolution of travel, from its beginnings to the era of mass tourism, and shows how these contradictions reveal our own struggles to inhabit the world.
Juliette Morice is an agrégée and doctor of philosophy. A lecturer at the University of Le Mans, she is also the author of Le Monde ou la Bibliothèque. Travel and Education in the Classical Age (Les Belles Lettres, 2016).
