On June 4, 2026, the Université du bien commun in Paris and the Institut de Nantes will host a public discussion at the Académie du Climat dedicated to food systems as commons. Researchers from the Chair Commons: Knowledge, Power and Crises - Claudia Rosina Bara, Karla Nicol Hernández Puente and Abril Campos Rivera - will share their research and fieldwork experiences conducted between Mexico and France. Their work explores agroecology, seeds, and collective forms of food sovereignty.
How can we move beyond a purely market-driven approach to food? What can alternative food networks developed in Mexico and France teach us? Through this evening of dialogue at the Académie du Climat, discussions will address collective governance, food autonomy, care for territories, and the transmission of knowledge.
The event will be introduced by Sophie Halart, Director of the Institut de Nantes, following a proposal by Claire Dehove, artist diplomat and Ambassador of the Commons. A Spanish-to-French interpreter will be present to make the discussion accessible to a wider audience. Open to all upon registration, this event offers an opportunity to discover the researchers’ work and continue the dialogue initiated over the past several weeks in Nantes.
from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM
The event will take place at the Académie du Climat (Salle des Mariages)
