"Social Outcome of Shamanic Human-Spiritual Exchange: Nanay Case Study"

Relying on Nanay case field study (1980-2010), I interpret human-spiritual exchange as a central governing zone of shamanic praxis, which results in societal differentiation/stratification and underlines conflation of spiritual (shamanism) and social (clannishness) domains. I examine its steady components and regularities, which are found both in traditional kinship-oriented society, and in contemporary economically oriented one. It gives me opportunity to investigate not only traditional shamanic human-spiritual exchange as such, but also its embedding into the wider system of socio-economic exchange and its adapting for the religious and ideological change within the market economy environment in the course of contemporary indigenous renaissance in Siberia.
