On the banks of the Saint-Félix canal, near downtown Nantes and the SNCF train station, the former LU factory has been alive and kicking since January 1, 2000, as an atypical arts center.
Nantes' Scène nationale, le lieu unique is a space for artistic exploration, cultural ferment and conviviality, mixing genres, cultures and audiences. Its credo: the spirit of curiosity in the different fields of art: theater, dance, circus, music, visual arts, but also literature, philosophy, documentary cinema, architecture...
A place of friction, le lieu unique houses a range of services alongside these spaces dedicated to creation: bar, restaurant, reading room, hammam, crèche...
Every year, Le lieu unique presents :
more than 100 performances of theater, dance, circus, concerts, philosophical debates, etc.
over 200 days of exhibitions and residencies for visual artists,
special events (festivals, debates, etc.)
almost 600,000 visitors (including over 150,000 spectators for artistic activities).
Le lieu unique co-hosts the Arts, Societies and Contemporary Change artistic chair and the Vers une internationale des rivières project proposed by Camille de Toledo, associate member of the Institut.
