Nantes Métropole is a founding member of the Institut d'Études Avancées.
From the outset, the Nantes metropolis has supported the Institute's project through funding and the provision of premises. Jean-Marc Ayrault, then Johanna Rolland, successively mayors of Nantes, preside over the Fondation Institut d'études avancées.
Nantes Métropole also supports various projects at the Institute, such as the Arts, Societies and Contemporary Mutations Chair and the Vers une internationale des rivières project.
