Lake Erie, the North American lake, was the guest of the second key moment of the International of Rivers on November 16, 2024, at Le Lieu Unique in Nantes. Its voice was carried by Tish O'Dell, a member of the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund (CELDF), a pioneering institution in promoting the rights of nature.
Over the past decade, Tish O'Dell has been deeply involved in advocating for community rights and the rights of nature, starting with her own community in Broadview Heights, Ohio. She is now a speaker at the CELDF Democracy School and a board member of the Ohio Community Rights Network. Her work to secure the rights of Lake Erie and the Great Lakes has been featured in Ecologist, TruthOut, and Inside Climate News, as well as in the documentaries We the People 2.0 and Invisible Hand.
