The Atrato River (Colombia) was the guest of the second key moment of the International of Rivers on November 16, 2024, at Le Lieu Unique in Nantes. Its voice was carried by researcher and artist Elizabeth Gallòn Droste.
Her work focuses on socio-environmental crises and conflicts surrounding bodies of water, affective geographies, and relational ontologies. Since 2014, she has been part of Sinfonía Trópico and Filmouflage (Colombia-Germany), two platforms that raise awareness about biodiversity loss and its consequences through dialogues between art and science. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the International Graduate School "Temporalities of Future" at the Free University of Berlin. Her research examines the representation of the Atrato River by ethno-territorial organizations, in the context of the recognition of the basin as a "subject of rights" by the T-622 ruling of 2016.
