Symposium on the "Rights of Nature" at the National Assembly

The Institut d’études avancées in Nantes is partnering with Charles Fournier, Member of Parliament for Indre-et-Loire, and Notre Affaire à tous to announce the conference in which we will have the pleasure of participating as part of the project Towards an International of Rivers.

Assemblée Nationale

At the initiative of Charles Fournier, Member of Parliament for Indre-et-Loire, the French National Assembly will turn its attention to the Rights of Nature on Wednesday, April 30, from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM.

Echoing the event initially scheduled for June 12, 2024, which was canceled following the dissolution of the Assembly, and in line with numerous citizen-led initiatives across France, MP Charles Fournier invites you to the National Assembly for an afternoon of discussions and working sessions on a major turning point: the recognition of the Rights of Nature.

Organized under the high patronage of the President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, this event will bring together French and European voices advocating for the recognition of legal rights for natural entities within the French Republic.

Collectives from Corsica, the Loire Basin, and the Lez River, along with legal experts, policymakers, local elected officials, and voices from Poland and Spain, will gather to listen to and discuss the needs, values, and rights of natural entities.
