Open until 15 September 2025

Iméra, the Institute for Advanced Study of Aix-Marseille University, and the Fulbright Commission are launching a call for applications for one or two research fellowships in migration studies for the 2026–2027 academic year. The residency, lasting either 5 or 10 months, is open to established scholars from all disciplines whose work focuses on migration.

The application deadline is September 15, 2025.

IMERA

Intended for established researchers, this residency offers the opportunity to conduct research on migration—with a particular focus on mobility in and across the Mediterranean region—while also co-leading an interdisciplinary research cycle in collaboration with local scholars. All disciplines related to migration studies are eligible, and original, collaborative, and cross-sectoral projects are strongly encouraged.

The residency may last either 5 months (September to January or February to June) or 10 months (September to June), depending on the candidates' availability.

Located in the heart of Marseille, Iméra provides an environment conducive to high-level research. Set within a large wooded park, the campus combines historical heritage with modern facilities. Resident researchers are provided with furnished housing (suitable for families) and an equipped office in a shared collaborative space. Support is also available to assist with settling in, including help with enrolling children in local schools.

Residents also benefit from privileged access to a rich network of archives (such as ANOM, the Mucem, municipal and departmental archives, etc.) and a dynamic academic ecosystem supported by over 100 research units at Aix-Marseille University.

Detailed information on eligibility, application requirements, and practical arrangements can be found on the Iméra website: https://www.imera.fr
