Diego Landivar is a French-Bolivian economist and anthropologist. His research focuses on the anthropological reconfigurations induced by climate change and ecological collapses. He has been a lecturer and researcher at the ESC Clermont Group since 2011, where he leads various programs related to the Anthropocene and sustainability. He co-founded the research team Origens in Clermont-Ferrand. His initial investigations focused on constituent assemblies in Latin America, the rights of nature entities, and political animism. His current work addresses an ecology of the Technosphere, paying close attention to infrastructures, modern techniques, and organizations and their ecological vulnerabilities. In collaboration with E. Bonnet and A. Monnin, he published "Héritage et Fermeture. Une écologie du démantèlement" (Ed. Divergences).
Thinking and Implementing Ecological Redirection for the Future Habitability of Territories
This project aims to reconsider our ways of life from the perspective of the new climatic and ecological regime rather than merely responding to it.
It views the climate emergency as a major anthropological shift, impacting our social organization, land use practices, and problem-solving methods. Among current territorial strategies, ecological redirection presents an opportunity to rethink our approaches to planning and inhabiting spaces. The project seeks to consolidate, analyze, and disseminate the results of ecological redirection experiments conducted since 2015. It explores how this strategy can align human activities with planetary boundaries while ensuring the sustainability of the involved communities. The project recognizes the importance of considering both ecological and climatic constraints, as well as the attachments and dependencies of inhabitants on economic activities and infrastructure. It is structured into three sequences: consolidation of empirical data, discussion of results, and the design of tools for ecological redirection of territories.
